29.08.2019, in the Korean city of Chungju, the 19th World Martial Arts Union (WoMAU) martial arts festival was held under the auspices of UNESCO.
Representatives of various styles and types of martial arts from around the world gathered for the 19-th time to hold a martial arts festival and discuss common organizational issues, to develop martial arts as a heritage of human culture, and that is why WoMAU officially holds its meetings under the auspices of UNESCO.
Kolo direction from Latvia was represented by Romāns Dāboliņš, who also participated in the official meeting of WoMAU (World Martial Arts Union) members
The festival itself was divided into two parts:
1 – a meeting of WoMAU members, which lasted one day – 29.08.2019 .
2 – demonstrations, workshops and competitions between teams in presentations of their styles.
All this took place over 3 days, 29.08.2019 – 31.08.2019, on the territory of the Chungju World Martial Arts Museum (impressive museum of martial arts) of the impressive 5-story building of the museum itself, which presents almost all possible types of martial arts collected by Koreans all over the world and the surrounding territory, which also has different halls and indoor venues for classes and performances of athletes.
The opening ceremony of the festival took place at a football stadium filled with spectators and was accompanied by a demonstration air show of military exterminations of the Korean armed forces, and after that with a grandiose salute!
The festival was opened by Ban Ki-moon (8th UN Secretary-General) for which Chungju is his hometown and a public museum is now open in the house where he lived.
